Tuesday 24th - IMPORTANT - Information regarding forthcoming industrial action by NEU

    24 January 2023 (by Claire Grady (c.grady))

    Dear parents/carers,

You may be aware from media coverage that the NEU (teaching union) have declared strike action, which will take place in our area on the following 4 days - 1st and 28th February and 15th and 16th March .                                                                                                                                                                                                                           The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the union and the government over the government’s failure to provide a fully funded above-inflation pay rise for all teachers, and not because of any issues at our school.

I am getting in touch to give you as much notice as possible that learning may be disrupted on these dates as we have a significant number of staff who are members of the NEU. We are currently conducting a risk assessment and considering several options. The risk assessment covers health and safety requirements, safeguarding responsibilities and the implications for teaching and learning. I will share this information with the governors of the school and we will communicate the arrangements with all parents. This risk assessment will be reviewed prior to all strike dates.

We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and plans could change with short notice. I will inform you of all arrangements as soon as possible and I will use the mobile app and the text service to do so. Please ensure all your contact details are up to date.

I am sorry about the potential disruption to you and to your child’s education. I understand that this situation may be frustrating, and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect. St.Patrick’s remains committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our pupils and delivering high-quality teaching.

    Kindest Regards

    Mrs Grady
