OUR SPORTING VISION
St Patrick’s School continually uses sport and physical activity to raise attainment, engage with parents/carers and build self-awareness and emotional intelligence to improve the life chances of our children in a Christ centred environment.
St Patrick’s would like to support learning in PE in ways similar to other subjects, that is, helping children to learn the ABCs of movement initially; progressing to developing physical potential; leading to identifying and nurturing gifted and talented pupils, and identifying those pupils requiring support to become a competent mover:
- All children should be given the movement skills, enthusiasm and confidence to begin lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.
- All teachers should be equipped with the techniques and confidence to teach core movement skills.
- As teachers and parents, we should be encouraging an active, healthy lifestyle and challenging individuals to take responsibility for their own well-being.
