SPORT AT ST. PATRICK’S
The school, through planning the curriculum and offering extra curricular activities, aims to give pupils the opportunity to experience and develop their sporting abilities. The school is proud of the recognition given to its Sport and PE with the award of an Activemark Gold Award from Sports England. Other staff are qualified to coach swimming and athletics. The school always enters the Leeds Schools’ FA League and plays inter-school matches throughout the year. Football coaching is held after school for different age groups and is organized by fully qualified FA coaches. This is open to all pupils aged 7+. The school has netball teams that play regular games against other schools. The school has gained a city wide reputation for excellence in Athletics. Last year coming first in the City Wide Indoor Athletics Competition.

FRIENDS OF ST. PATRICK’S (FoSP)

Our school enjoys the valuable support of this organisation which is open to all parents, parishioners and teachers connected with the school. It has three main aims:
- to develop good relations between all members of the school and local communities

- to promote activities of particular interest to the school community

- to raise funds for the school.

 

CURRICULUM ENRICHMENT

Educational Visits

Special educational visits are arranged to complement curriculum work in school. These include visits in Leeds and beyond the local area. Recent excursions have taken our children to: Kirkstall Abbey, Canal Gardens, Temple Newsam, Armley Industrial Museum, Gipton Fire Station and The West Yorkshire Playhouse.

Residential Visits

Year 6 are taken away for a 5 day residential visit. This year they went to Buckden House outdoor centre,

Drama

Visiting theatre groups are invited to entertain the children
and provide theatre workshops. A Music & Drama club is held on Tuesday after school.

Music

Recorder tuition is provided both during and after school hours.
A Music Club is held on Tuesday after school.

Speakers

Guest speakers are invited to enrich the curriculum for the children on a variety of topics.

Charitable Works

Children are encouraged to be aware of the needs of the under-privileged and disabled. During Lent the children raise money for the school’s Lenten Project.
