SCHOOL UNIFORM

The uniform is a royal blue school sweatshirt or cardigan worn over a white polo shirt. Sweatshirts and cardigans embroidered with the school logo are available only from school. White polo shirts are widely available from a variety of retailers. These are worn with black or grey tailored trousers or grey skirt/pinafore. In summer girls may wear a blue checked school dress as alternative uniform.

No parent should be precluded from obtaining the uniform for financial reasons as the school will give appropriate assistance where necessary.

Black shorts, white tee shirt and pumps are required for physical education. A white PE t-shirt with the school logo is available from school. The uniform polo shirt is NOT to be used for PE. Swimming costumes are required for pupils in year 4 and 5 who take part in weekly swimming sessions at Fearnville Sports Centre.

Footwear appropriate for an active day in school, including playtimes, should be worn. Fashion shoes can be dangerous and are considered unsuitable.
For reasons of hygiene long hair should be tied back at all times.
Shaved heads and motifs cut into the hair are not suitable.
The wearing of jewellery is discouraged. The wearing of “dangling” earrings or the wearing of an earring in one ear only is not allowed, nor is it permitted to wear two sets of earings at school. Makeup, which includes nail varnish, is not permitted.
Pupils who wish to use the school field in the winter months must bring a change of clothes, including footwear.

IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT EACH ARTICLE OF CLOTHING IS CLEARLY MARKED WITH THE NAME OF THE CHILD.

Name tags can be ordered through the school or labels can be marked with indelible ink.

SCHOOL MEALS

Pupils may stay for a school meal or bring their own packed lunch. Packed lunches must NOT include canned or bottled drinks for reasons of safety. A minimum of 2 weeks notice is required to alter arrangements for pupils.

ACCESS FOR PEOPLE WITH MOBILITY PROBLEMS

The school has disabled access to the main building and playing fields. However the school is on two levels with internal steps which makes movement within the building difficult. Adaptations to permit movement within this building are beyond the means of the Governors and must depend upon additional funding.

MEDICINE IN SCHOOL

In certain circumstances a doctor may say that children are fit to attend school provided that they take a course of medicine during the school day. In such circumstances only SUFFICIENT MEDICINE FOR THE DAY should be handed in to the office in a container clearly marked with the pupil’s name. the dose required and a spoon if necessary. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES must a full bottle of medicine be sent. These could be broken or forgotten. They are also potentially hazardous if they are taken by other children.
