THE NATIONAL CURRICULUM
The Governors are in broad agreement with the philosophy outlined in the LEA document “The Curriculum 5-16 A Statement of Policy”.
The National Curriculum core subjects - English, Maths, and Science are allotted a substantial amount of time. Additional to these are foundation subjects in History, Geography, Technology, Music, Art and Physical Education. ICT is an integral part of the curriculum and is included in all subjects.
Core, foundation and other subjects will normally be included in cross curricular topics or as single subjects investigated by pupils of all ages. As part of this curriculum all children are tested at 6+ and 10+. A written report is issued to all parents at the end of each school year and two consultation evenings are held during the year. The report will comment on classwork, conduct and attendance. The report for Year 2 and Year 6 pupils will also comment on National Curriculum Tests. Year 2 is the end of KS1 and Year 6 ends KS2.
